45 Cfr Parts 160 and 164 refer to the standards mentioned in The Privacy Rule for maintaining the integrity of Protected health data (Phi) for all covered entities. This appropriate of the Privacy Rule mandates how Phi should be protected and the extra circumstances under which it can be shared. The proposed changes contain changes in outpatient way to Phi. The Hitech Act in its original form underlined the importance of an personel being able to way his Phi. This means that the outpatient can request a copy of his Phi, in case, granted he is able to supply a clear and exact ask for the same. The proposed changes develop upon this. Here, the covered entities would need to electronically enunciate Phi which would enable patients to in fact way an electronic copy of their data upon a formal request.

1. Changes in compliancy Date
Hitech was productive in most states from February 2010 though this productive date had many statutory exceptions. The proposed modification means that all covered entities are given an extra, 180 days after the productive date to update themselves to Arra (American rescue and Reinvestment Act of 2009) standards.
2. Creation of Transition Period
Hhs proposed providing a Transition period where covered entities and company associates are allowed to make changes to their agreements/contracts. The transition period is not applicable to all covered entities and company associates. Only those with a contract before the publication of the final rules which was compatible with earlier provisions of health guarnatee Portability and accountability Act of 1996 would be eligible for this.
